C.A.R.E4Paws Animal Services (Wendy Domanski, Community Programs Coordinator)
Wendy is the Community Programs Coordinator at C.A.R.E4Paws, a 501(c)3 charity in Santa Barbara County that works to provide a safety net of services to help animals stay with their families for life. They help reduce pet overpopulation, keep animals out of shelters and improve quality of life for pets and pet owners, especially those who are low income, seniors, homeless, and in need.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, C.A.R.E4Paws has partnered with the Food bank of Santa Barbara County to help assist seniors, handicapped individuals, and others at high risk of the virus or unable to leave their homes with pet food delivery.
Challenges
C.A.R.E4Paws was suddenly thrust into the delivery industry despite having no idea how to do any of it. Eager to start, they gave volunteer drivers a list of names and addresses, and hoped for the best. However, they soon realized that this was not efficient.
What should have taken each driver an hour was taking several hours, and the experience of driving in unfamiliar neighborhoods was daunting. Deliveries weren’t completed, and the volunteer drivers were often left frustrated having wasted valuable time and money. C.A.R.E.4Paws knew something needed to be done about this.
Solution
Wendy reached out to Route4Me after hearing about it from their foodbank partner, and the rest is history. With the help of Route4Me, C.A.R.E.4Paws is now able to deliver more than 4 tons of food per week effortlessly.
We are so thankful for Route4me Software. You have gone above and beyond to help us out during this crisis. We are an animal charity that had to learn pretty quickly how to get in the delivery game to help out. This is not what any of us expected, however, you made the transition so much easier.
