Owner Aaron Cort adopted Route4Me more than a decade ago, when the platform was still young. In the years since, he has periodically taken a hard look at what else is on the market, and reached the same conclusion every time.
“I said, I’m not doing it. They have exactly what I need.” The story of why a discerning operator keeps choosing to stay is, in many ways, the most telling kind there is.
Moderne Couldn’t Tell Customers When Its Trucks Would Arrive
Aaron Cort came into the rug business as a former truck driver who had never had GPS or routing software on the road, just “the old paper map books.” When he and his wife, Nikki, bought Moderne Rug Cleaning in 2010, the prior owner was still running routes on a Windows 95 machine with a dot-matrix printer, laying out each day as a stack of paper against a map book. Communication ran over two-way radios, and when a driver was out of reach, so was any sense of where the truck was: “Where the heck is that truck? They should be there by now.” For customers, the experience was worse. As Cort puts it, the shop was “kind of like the cable company. We’ll be there sometime Tuesday, can’t really tell you when, because I don’t really know.”
Cort knew the operation was lacking, and that it wasn’t keeping customers informed. He evaluated a range of platforms before landing on Route4Me, which did exactly what he needed: drop in a batch of addresses, optimize them, hand the driver the route on a phone, and track the whole day from the office in a web browser. He calls it an aha moment. “This is almost perfect for what we do.”
Route4Me Turned “Sometime Tuesday” Into Scheduled Certainty
A platform earns a decade of loyalty by becoming part of how the business runs, and Route4Me did. The scheduling and dispatch notifications turned “sometime Tuesday” into committed windows customers can plan around.
Moderne Evaluates the Market and Chooses Route4Me Every Time
What makes Moderne’s story stand out isn’t its size. It’s that a hands-on operator who scrutinizes every expense keeps reaching the same decision. More than once over the years, Cort did what a careful owner does: he went back to the market and looked hard at the alternatives. He came to the same conclusion each time. “I’m not doing it. They have exactly what I need. I don’t need to piecemeal several platforms together.” Part of that is the product. The combination of optimization, tracking, and customer notifications does exactly what his pickup-and-delivery operation needs. And part of it is the relationship. Cort credits his Route4Me representative, Ryan, repeatedly, and values that the support is personal in a way he doesn’t take for granted. He doesn’t feel like a number, and he isn’t routed to a distant help desk. The people who pick up know who he is and what his shop needs.
The kind of customer who finds a platform early, watches it change, re-shops the field more than once, and still chooses to stay is the kind every software company hopes to earn. It is the clearest signal of durable value there is.
