So SCA went after the small pieces at scale. Five to fifteen miles a day off a route does not sound like a headline. Multiply it across sixty plus locations and stack it week over week, month over month, year over year.
The work never sits still. Customers come and go, so routes get reoptimized. Two drivers call off with no replacements and the night gets rebuilt before the shift starts.
Bill also stopped guessing. He routes for roads in Delaware and Maryland he has never driven. When a driver breaks sequence, he asks why. Sometimes the driver is right, and the route gets better than a map alone could make it.
